However, it is the intermediates that are best catered for at Flaine. There is also some good off-piste riding to be had but local knowledge is essential to avoid a number of hidden dangers. Local guides at Flaine offer good value trips. Off the slopes; well you are in a concrete jungle. Local services in the car free town are basic and eating out options are limited. The night life is aimed at hardcore boozing in loud tacky pubs. Together with Samoëns, Sixt, Les Carroz and Morillion, these five resorts comprise the Grand Massif ski area, offering a total of 265kms, 73 lifts and 144 trails. Flaine itself has 140kms of terrain including 29 lifts and 60 groomed trails.
