Winterberg in Germany (in the Winterberg region) is a large resort with 22 lifts (0 chair lifts, 22 surface lifts) but it only has 190 metres (624 feet) of vertical descent. Winterberg has 20 pistes. Winterberg is best suited to beginner skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for both expert and intermediates. There are 220 kilometers (138 miles) of cross country ski trails at Winterberg. A small proportion of the pistes at Winterberg are covered by snowmaking. The nearest airport is at Cologne and the nearest train station to Winterberg is at Winterberg. There is accommodation located close to the pistes but we would welcome additional information about any hotels or chalets in Winterberg.

I spent a wonderful three weeks skiing here in 1949. There was not a lot of snow but the skiing was good, the accommodation was excellent but most of all the people of Winterberg were delightful hosts. A holiday that I shall never forget.
